GARDEN GROUPS HONORED

Three St. Paul public garden groups were among 18 organizations that were honored last weekend by the Minnesota Horticultural Society. They are:

The St. Paul Garden Club, which has rejuvenated Rice Park and Swede Hollow.

Selby Area Gardening Enthusiasts, who have planted vegetable gardens and trees throughout the Selby-Dale area, involving children in the work and pressing city authorities to make vacant lots and fire hydrants available for community gardens across St. Paul.

The Jewish Community Center of St. Paul, which involves Russian Jewish immigrants in an intercultural garden club.

The awards are for ``exceptional contributions in helping rejuvenate community environment.''
